The intersection of time-honored spirituality and modern psychotherapy
We are guided by traditional spirituality and use the latest scientific, evidence-based psychotherapy for the treatment of substance use disorder, relationship concerns, life skills, and general mental health concerns.
Our work is scientific because we use the latest psychotherapy modalities that have passed multiple studies for validity, reliability, and effectiveness for thousands of people.
Our work is spiritual because we rely on the philosophy of Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Ignatius of Loyola, and other great Catholic thinkers to aid in our therapy techniques.
Our professional counseling is different, powerful, and gets results. We follow a brief psychotherapy model to maximize your time if you are willing to put in the work. Many problems and unhelpful habits may be corrected in anywhere from 3 to 9 sessions, depending on which issues are presented.
Our staff practices an absence of judgement and a fullness of positive spirituality.

What to expect at your first visit
The first visit is called the "intake" session. This session is to gather information and to help you gain insight into whatever may be holding you back from your full potential. During this first visit, your therapist will ask you several questions. The therapist will also take notes and collaborate with you on a possible diagnosis. He would then recommend a certain number of sessions and their frequency.
Future sessions would involve much more analyzing of patterns in your life, and identifying helpful techniques to help you to build up a new way of thinking, feeling, and acting, and to overcome old habits which are no longer useful. While the therapist asks a lot of questions at the first visit, with subsequent visits it is you, the client, who has the opportunity to speak without fear of judgement and to be heard.
A robust and orthodox Catholic counseling program
Intercessory Counseling & Wellness also offers an optional comprehensive Catholic psychotherapy program for those who choose it.
Our practice of psychotherapy is animated by Catholic spirituality and moral teachings. While we will not impose Catholic teaching or any spiritual practice on anyone, our staff is motivated by our own expression of Catholic spirituality and a joyful reciprocated love of God.
This means that we will not give advice or direction which is gravely contrary to Catholic moral teaching.
If you would like to incorporate any Catholic practices into your journey of psychotherapy, such as intercessory prayer or collaboration with a priest or spiritual director, please let us know.
Intercessory Counseling & Wellness does not discriminate. We accept clients of all faiths and backgrounds.
